International Legends of League and Mining Skills Australia
The ultimate international tournament of Legends of League has returned in its twelfth year.
This year the International Legends of League (ILOL) is scheduled at Panthers RLFC Biloela Grounds on Saturday 7th May from 12pm where Mining Skills Australia has received an excellent opportunity to be one of the major sponsors for the team.
The ILOL includes a high-profile past National Rugby League players across the event, resulting in enormous goodwill and interest from the local community.
For the social Rugby League game of 2022, a diverse group of people, including previous NRL Legends, local community members and even representing Mining Skills Australia’s own Graeme Bradshaw and his brother Geoff Bradshaw.
Not only a huge NRL fan, but Graeme Bradshaw also has a close and personal connection to the Australian Indigenous Community and has a passion to support the local indigenous communities in Qld, and Australia. Sponsoring the International Legends of League event in Biloela, is a great opportunity for Mining Skills Australia to get involved with the local Central QLD communities.

Rachel Hawker and the Emergency Response team at Isaac Downs Mine site
Rachel Hawker, Project Manager for the Emergency Management Department of Mining Skills Australia, along with her team of Paramedics, recently got a wonderful opportunity to visit Isaac Downs Mine Site at Moranbah.
The introduction of EPSA to Australia has opened opportunities for Mining Skills Australia to develop and assist them with Paramedics and an Emergency Response Team on site.
Mining Skills Australia provide Paramedics, Credentialling, clinical Governance, Medical Oversight & Drug/Poisons Licence to ensure safety by complying to QLD Health standards.
With that support, MSA organised a full clinical setup, Paramedic & Drug Compliancy and Ambulance services within 24 hours with our highly qualified Medical Service Team at EPSA, Isaac Downs Mine site.
The entire process was seamless with an appreciable effort from the team of EPSA to the site management team.
To achieve the desirable result of smooth transition within 24 hours, teamwork played a vital role as they demonstrated their support, leadership, and flexibility.
With that, the paramedics were also able to assist EPSA by providing inputs and analysing their Emergency Response plans.
Mining Skills Australia will also assist EPSA with providing Cert III in Mines rescue for all ERT Crews.
Mining Skill Australia will also continue to provide trainers, gap analysis, training matrix’s and 12-month training plans which will aid in focused and experienced Emergency Response Site wide.
It has been an exciting time and our Paramedics are focused and energised, ensuring the highest quality of safety. Our focus is on providing passionate, experienced Paramedics from various work backgrounds – ranging from Ambulance to Mining & Defence Forces.

Site Visit at Isaac Downs, EPSA
In an increasingly competitive resource market, mining companies are required to formulate effectively and steer the business.
With the introduction of EPSA to Australia, Mining Skills Australia has been provided the opportunity to continue to support and assist EPSA during this process through providing training resources, Maintenance and Certificate training, Paramedics, and an Emergency Response Team.
Our leadership team including Gary Bradshaw, Rachel Hawker, and Graeme Bradshaw, visited the Isaac Downs site in Central Queensland, to assist with the handover of site to EPSA.
A complete handover was achieved within 24 hours from the previous site mine, Mining Skills Australia was able to assist EPSA with a full scope of capabilities.
In this crucial period of transition for EPSA, Mining Skills Australia is happy to be involved and provide a fully functional support of our services like MSA’s New paramedic team, which took on the challenge and new job responsibilities with confidence. By expanding the scope for our paramedic team, Mining Skills Australia showcased the additional resources MSA can provide, not only digital learning resources.

With the discovery of Mining Skills Australia’s eLearning capabilities and blended learning resources, so has been the growth of our clientele and in turn the need to expand our team.
The RTO (Registered Training Organisation) Department for MSA was created a year ago, which only comprised of Emma and the help of MSA admin, to now a strong and dynamic team, focused on compliancy, organisation, creativity and support for our clients and admissions (Ava, Tia, Anne, Emma and Nikola – left to right).
Our team has mixed experience with leadership, training and management, content development, customer service support, sales, document and compliance, legal and editorial control.
The RTO Department are responsible for building the learning materials and foundations behind our blended eLearning animations and resources.
As an organisation, Mining Skills Australia is committed towards the aim of raising the standards of learning and development within the Resource Industry, while simultaneously seeking to becoming reputable and leading providers of nationally recognised training and assessment.

Emergency Management at Mining Skills Australia
Compared to previous times, mining is substantially safer, however, fundamentally it can be challenging and risk to injury to personnel is still something to be conscious of.
With opportunities to potential risks, several operations at various Mine sites within Australia, aim to include Emergency Response Team (ERT) to respond to the dangerous incidents.
The members of the Emergency Response Team are highly skilled and trained to handle any hazardous incidents.
In the Resource Industry, Paramedics established a pivotal role on site as they are the first contact regarding injuries or illness in a mine site.
Mining Skills Australia provides Paramedic services to various mine sites which involves varying responsibilities such as completion of drug and alcohol screening, attending to patient’s needs, liaising with the onsite safety team, escalating matters accordingly and complete any admin related tasks including kit checks and site familiarisation.
In conjunction with the Paramedic services, Mining Skill Australia focuses on providing the training services to the ERT at Mine sites building teams skill sets including First Aid, CPR, Road Crash Rescue, and Hazardous Material Management.
The training services are supported by the theoretical learning as well as hands-on practical with any equipment in numerous scenarios. The emphasis is on learning outcomes and trainer interaction.
Strengthened by training arrangements along with professional interaction by our paramedics, the ERT team on site can enhance their skills in emergency conditions.
In addition to training, the awareness talk by our paramedics explores the experiences of the onsite crews on health and safety concerns.
Overall, the aim of safety maintenance is fulfilled by our proficient team of paramedics.

New Hitachi Excavator EX1200-7BH Training at Ivory Coast
Ity Mine in Ivory Coast is an open pit gold mine located 650kms off the coast of Abidjan. Recently, it has received an EX1200-7BH excavator which gives Mining Skills Australia an opportunity to provide them with a trainer/assessor so that the operators on site can be familiarised with the new machinery.
Our newly joined trainer and assessor, Diederick Johannes Dauth Wincento, commenced his training at Ity Mine in Ivory Coast in recent times. Being an experienced trainer and assessor and highly skilled and qualified to operate excavators, loaders, compactors, and dump trucks is certainly qualified to help operators get acquainted with the theory as well as the practical/hands-on components of the machinery.
EX1200-7BH is an operator-friendly machine and possesses the capability to adapt to different operations very quickly. The ergonomic design, multi-functional display and improved climate control system provides an operating environment that reduces fatigue and enhances efficiency. Diederick mentioned that since the machine was brand new, operating the machine was effortless and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Diederick highlights the theory assessment criteria provided by Mining Skills Australia to be advantageous. The operators in conjunction with Diederick have found the MSA Theory Assessment to be comprehensive and the extensive knowledge they have, has definitely been utilised. This really does emphasise the importance of face-to-face training and it gives the trainers an opportunity to work in new and challenging environments. Diederick’s overall experience, imparting his knowledge to the operators on site has been positive and fruitful.

Graeme and Phil visit Mongolia
Mining Skills Australia experiences Mongolia.
Not only is Mongolia known for its incredible Cashmere Industry, but more recently, a boom within the Resource Industry, with the recognition for expansion of knowledge and immersive based training within their Mining operations.
With an invite from @Suld United LLC, @Mining Skills Australia had a wonderful opportunity to meet the organisations and people encouraging the Resource boom, showcasing the incredible technologies, learning resources, and training that Mining Skills Australia is known for.
Graeme Bradshaw, Managing Director of Mining Skills Australia, and RTO Administrator Phillip White had an amazing experience during their travel within Mongolia and after returning, have been excited in the growth and development of Mongolia’s Resource Industry. Mining Skills Australia is proud and enthusiastic to be involved in this journey with Mongolia.
It wasn’t all work, as our hosts SULD United LLC gave Graeme and Phil a chance to experience some of Mongolian culture, including a camel ride in -20C weather!
