Machine Articulation and Rigging
It takes years of training, hours studying machinery and equipment movement, scrutinizing hundreds of OEM’s and Training Manuals, countless iterative changes and weeks of work to ensure that Mining Skills Animations, correctly represent real life machinery / equipment movement.
One of the processes that our animators use to create correct machine movement representation is through animation techniques called Articulation and Rigging.
In short, Machine Articulation is essentially the points of a machine that bend and move. As for the rigging, it’s the process of taking those articulating points and making it into a controllable puppet for the animators.
Luckily our Animation team at Mining Skills Australia has the talent needed to make it look easy, even if it isn’t.
We welcome you to Mining Skills Australia to discuss your training, simulation, animation, training content creation / presentations or marketing needs for your organisation.

Andy Visits Ferrexpo
Andrew Holder, Mining Skills Australia, Managing Director recently conducted a Training Needs Analysis at the Ferrexpo mines in the Ukraine.
Ferrexpo PLC is a Swiss-based commodity trading and mining company which is the third largest exporter of iron ore pellets in the world. Ferrexpo’s operating base is in central Ukraine, where it operates three iron-ore mines and an iron ore pellet production facility.
The Training Needs Analysis was conducted over two weeks to evaluate operator mining standards in line with Australian outcomes. The focus was on fine tuning operator technique efficiency and reviewing preventative maintenance opportunities across various truck, shovel, loader and ancillary support equipment.
Mining Skills Australia introduced our digitalised Learning and Development platform to support Ferrexpo’s shift trainers to train to International standards so they will be able to support their operators with the relevant knowledge and skills in the future.
Mining Skills Australia would like to thank the Ferrexpo training team and the operators for their amazing hospitality and we look forward to continuing the relationship into 2022.
We wish Andy safe travels as he returns home to Australia.
South Africa – Mogalakwena Update
If you weren’t already aware, Mining Skills Australia have two of our trainers Brett and Shannon in South Africa. Their training has been successful and positive comments have come out of their trip so far.
The consensus from both trainers is that the Mogalakwena mine operators are loving the experience and working alongside the trainers to gain more knowledge about processes.
It really does highlight the importance of face to face training and it gives the trainers an opportunity to work in new environments.
Mining Skills Australia is happy to support local and global networks, and look forward to the success of reaching the knowledge gap for the operators at the Mogalakwena mine.

Managing Director Andy in Finland
Mining Skills Australia’s Managing Director Andrew Holder has been fortunate to head abroad to Europe whereby he will be hands on with some training.
As COVID-19 restrictions are ever changing it is great that we are back out there currently putting Mining Skills Australia on the map globally.
Andy’s travels are taking him through Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ukraine and Amsterdam to visit Hitachi sites. These photos were captured during Andy’s time at Terrafame, in Finland.
Do not underestimate our trainers ability to work through all conditions, rain, snow or shine.
We wish Andy safe travels on his trip and much success.

Ensham Site Visit
Will and Cayden from Mining Skills Australia’s Animation team, had the opportunity to visit Ensham Resources mine site yesterday, south of Emerald, Queensland.
Will and Cayden be spending the next few days on site to observe the operational conditions, safety matters and resources employed for underground coal mining activities.
This is an important step when creating animation scenes so that Mining Skills Australia’s animations reflect accurate working conditions and mining environments providing a real time experience for the learner.
Thank you again Ensham Resources for the opportunity to visit site and collaborate.
