Ity Mine in Ivory Coast is an open pit gold mine located 650kms off the coast of Abidjan. Recently, it has received an EX1200-7BH excavator which gives Mining Skills Australia an opportunity to provide them with a trainer/assessor so that the operators on site can be familiarised with the new machinery.

Our newly joined trainer and assessor, Diederick Johannes Dauth Wincento, commenced his training at Ity Mine in Ivory Coast in recent times. Being an experienced trainer and assessor and highly skilled and qualified to operate excavators, loaders, compactors, and dump trucks is certainly qualified to help operators get acquainted with the theory as well as the practical/hands-on components of the machinery.

EX1200-7BH is an operator-friendly machine and possesses the capability to adapt to different operations very quickly. The ergonomic design, multi-functional display and improved climate control system provides an operating environment that reduces fatigue and enhances efficiency. Diederick mentioned that since the machine was brand new, operating the machine was effortless and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Diederick highlights the theory assessment criteria provided by Mining Skills Australia to be advantageous. The operators in conjunction with Diederick have found the MSA Theory Assessment to be comprehensive and the extensive knowledge they have, has definitely been utilised. This really does emphasise the importance of face-to-face training and it gives the trainers an opportunity to work in new and challenging environments. Diederick’s overall experience, imparting his knowledge to the operators on site has been positive and fruitful.

Mining Skills Australia is happy to support local and global networks and look forward to the success of reaching the knowledge gap for the operators at the Ity mine.
