The Shortfirer Short Course provides the skills and knowledge to conduct shotfiring operations Delivery is face to face and conducted onsite to workers already employed in the resources and infrastructure industries.

Course Requirements and Details

Entry Requirements
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Currently working in the mining industry.

  • RIIBLA301E Conduct surface shotfiring operations
  • RIIBLA305E Conduct secondary blasting
  • RIIBLA205E Store, handle and transport explosives

  • Multiple choice questions
  • Short Answer Questions
  • Practical Observations
  • Work Evidence.

Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

Mining Skills Australia has Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy and Procedure to ensure that an individual’s prior learning achieved through formal and informal training, work experience or other life experiences is appropriately recognised. This recognition may assist students to progress faster through a unit of competency or allow the student full credit.
